I’m a full- time ceramicist from Whangarei New Zealand. My on-off love affair with ceramics started 33 years ago. Since then I’ve learned the tricks of the trade by attending various workshops, classes and many hours of trial and error. I take pleasure in creating pieces that are both functional and beautiful to use in everyday life and enjoy experimenting with food safe glaze combinations and application techniques. The forms shapes and textures are all created by hand with stoneware that is fired in an electric kiln, firing this way can yield unexpected but beautiful results, which is part of what makes ceramics exciting and magical for me. I draw my inspiration from the rich and diverse beauty of the New Zealand coast line. I hope that those who connect with my works enjoy using them as much as I enjoy creating them. The uniqueness of each piece is a reminder that it is hand made, one of a kind , and not part of our mass produced world.
